Custom Engraving Pet Memorial – Koa

As with most pet lovers, losing a pet is heart breaking event that always takes time to recover from!

My friend, Dennis, had such a loss.

Koa-CollieHer name is “Koa”.  She’s a special female Collie that passed away in 2011.

Because of Koa’s beautiful Collie colors, her name was carefully chosen.

 Dennis shares his story:

I wanted to pick out a wood that was the same color as a collie.  So I chose Koa wood—Koa is a Hawaiian wood that has all the same colors in it as the tri-color hues that you see in collies—sable, black and white.  Ironically,  Koa is so rare now that you can only harvest it from downed trees or from the trees that are on your private land.  Not only were they the same in color, but I truly believe that my dog “Koa” is that rare as well.

What makes this special and “one-of-a-kind” custom engraving is Dennis not only commissioned me to engrave her profile on top of a 4 x 7 inch curly maple wood, but he’s creating  a unique urn himself.

So as before (Shadow’s Keepsake box blog), I would like to share my journey in creating this very special gift through several blogs depicting various stages of converting Koa from photo to final engraving!

That is one of the reasons; engraving/etching  is so near and dear to my heart!

Again it always amazes me, whether you own dogs, cats, horses, etc. the unconditional love you can experience. Animals bring so much happiness into our lives, and that’s why, I always love to hear people’s stories.

It’s my passion to capture your pet’s personality, hear your story, cherish and preserve your memory of that special friend.

I love hearing stories regarding people’s pets. The fact that you have chosen to engrave the Keepsake box is wonderful and a blessing for many pet owners. It’s something beautiful that they can see and feel “the cherished memories” for the rest of their lives.

    Thanks, Shirley
